Terms of Service

1. What StockArena is

StockArena is a free fantasy stock trading game. You build virtual portfolios and compete against other players for position on a leaderboard. Portfolio performance is calculated from real market price data, but all money, credits, and prizes in StockArena are virtual. Nothing you do on this service buys, sells, or holds a real security, and no real funds are ever at stake.

By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. Not financial advice

StockArena is entertainment and education. Nothing on this service — contest results, stock of the day, learning modules, glossary entries, backtests, or any other content — is investment, financial, legal, or tax advice, or a recommendation to buy or sell any security. Past performance shown in the game does not predict real market results. Consult a licensed professional before making real investment decisions.

3. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
  • You are responsible for the activity that happens under your account.
  • One account per person. Do not create accounts to manipulate leaderboards.
  • You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials secure.

4. Virtual credits and prizes

Credits, XP, levels, leagues, and achievements have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money or anything of value, and cannot be transferred between accounts. We may adjust, reset, or remove virtual balances — for example to correct an error, reverse abuse, or rebalance the game. Contest "prize pools" are denominated in virtual credits only.

5. Fair play

You agree not to:

  • Use bots, scripts, or automation to enter contests or interact with the service.
  • Create multiple accounts to gain a leaderboard or reward advantage.
  • Scrape, resell, or redistribute market data obtained through the service.
  • Probe, overload, or attempt to bypass rate limits, authentication, or any other security control.
  • Upload unlawful, harassing, or infringing content, including in usernames.

We may suspend or terminate any account that violates these rules, and may void contest results obtained through violations.

6. Market data

Market data is provided by Alpaca and other third-party sources. It may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate, and is licensed to us subject to those providers' terms. We do not guarantee the accuracy or timeliness of any price, and we are not liable for contest outcomes affected by data errors, outages, or delays.

7. Service availability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of it — including contests, scoring rules, and reward tiers — at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and scheduled or unscheduled downtime may affect contests in progress.

8. Your content

You keep ownership of the content you submit, such as portfolio names and your profile. You grant StockArena a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display that content within the service — for example showing your username and portfolio on a public leaderboard.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, StockArena is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill arising from your use of the service. Because the service is free and involves no real money, our total aggregate liability to you is limited to USD $100.

10. Termination

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms or if we discontinue the service. Sections 2, 4, 6, 9, and 11 survive termination.

11. Changes and governing law

We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above, and continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
